Early morning rain cools Delhi, coastal regions on alert
Delhi-NCR finally got some rain and thunderstorms, breaking the long heatwave. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has put out a severe weather alert for Delhi, with more rain and strong winds expected. Red alerts are also up for parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Kerala because of heavy rainfall that could lead to flooding.
Stay indoors if possible, IMD advises
While the cooler weather is a welcome change, it comes with risks—especially in coastal areas like Ratnagiri, Udupi, and parts of Kerala. North Indian states such as Bihar and Rajasthan might see storms too. The IMD is urging everyone in affected regions to stay indoors if possible since strong winds could damage crops, knock down trees, or cause power cuts. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places, so it's best to stay safe until things settle down.
