Ethiopian volcano's ash cloud leaving India by tonight
India
The massive ash cloud from Ethiopia's Hayli Gubbi volcano, which erupted on November 23, is set to clear Indian skies by 7:30pm today, according to the IMD.
The ash traveled thousands of kilometers—crossing the Red Sea and passing over Yemen and Oman—before drifting over Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR, Haryana, and Punjab.
Why does this matter?
Flights across India faced major disruptions on November 24 and 25 as airlines rerouted or canceled trips to dodge the ash.
Airports were on alert for possible runway contamination, especially with Delhi's already poor air quality.
The DGCA asked airlines to report any issues with engines or cabins caused by the ash—safety first!
