India
A 32-year-old former IIT Bombay student was booked for allegedly recording videos of male students in hostel bathrooms.
He had completed his MTech in July 2025 and had been using a temporary visitor pass to access the campus from October 11 for two days.
On October 12, students caught him in the act and handed him over to campus security.
Case registered under IT Act
Security found more than 80 unauthorized videos on his phone.
Police registered a case under Section 66(E) of the IT Act, which covers recording and sharing private images without consent.
He was served a notice and released, as the law doesn't require immediate arrest.
IIT Bombay said it is cooperating with the investigation.
