Ex-Kerala DGP Jacob Thomas becomes full-time RSS pracharak

India

Jacob Thomas, who retired as Kerala's top police officer in 2020, has now officially joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a full-time pracharak.
At an event in Pallikkara, Ernakulam, near Kochi, on October 1, 2025, he put on the RSS uniform and highlighted the group's aim to build a strong nation through strong individuals and does not discriminate based on caste, religion, region, or language.

Thomas's ties with RSS go back to his days

Thomas's ties with RSS go back to his days in the police force, and he became a BJP member after retiring.
He follows other former Kerala police chiefs like R Sreelekha and T P Senkumar who also joined BJP-RSS after retirement.
Bringing respected ex-officers into their fold is seen as a move by BJP to boost its visibility and credibility in Kerala—a state where electoral wins have been tough.
It remains to be seen if this strategy will actually connect with voters or shift political dynamics.
