'Fake' astrologer arrested for defrauding Delhi woman
A 35-year-old Jaipur man, Sumit Bhargav, has been arrested for allegedly scamming a 28-year-old IT analyst from Delhi out of ₹3 lakh.
Posing as an astrologer online, he promised to fix her problems through paid rituals and convinced her to transfer money for these so-called services.
How the scam was executed
Bhargav used social media to find people looking for help, offering rituals he claimed would be performed at Vrindavan.
After taking the victim's money and making repeated promises, he stopped responding to her messages.
Following her complaint, Delhi Police tracked him down at his home in Jaipur's Mansarovar area and froze his bank account used in the scam.
