What's the story

Two sisters in Secunderabad, Telangana, were compelled to stay with their deceased mother's body for almost a week as they couldn't afford the cremation. The women, identified as Ravalika (25), who works at a saree shop, and Ashvitha (22), who is an event planner, couldn't pay for the cremation after their mother, C Lalitha, died of an illness. The family had been without financial support since 2020 when their father left after disputes.

The incident came to the fore when neighbors noticed a foul smell coming from the house and alerted law enforcement officials.
