FIR filed against Bengaluru officials over boy's electrocution
Ananth, a 10-year-old boy from Nepal, tragically died after being electrocuted by a high-tension wire while playing alone at his rented home in K R Puram, Bengaluru.
The accident happened on June 15 while his mother was at work.
Neighbors rushed him to the hospital, but despite efforts, he passed away five days later.
Investigators are now looking into the matter
Following a complaint from Ananth's mother, police filed an FIR against the city civic body (BBMP), electricity board (BESCOM), and the building owner for alleged negligence leading to his death.
Investigators are now looking into whether these parties failed to keep electrical infrastructure safe around residential areas.
The case has put a spotlight on how important it is for public bodies and property owners to prioritize basic safety standards.
