Bad weather leads to 15 flight diversions from Delhi

Severe weather conditions in Delhi have led to the diversion of 15 flights from the city airport. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rain and a yellow alert for moderate rain across several districts. Thunderstorms, lightning, and winds of 30-40km/h are also expected in South East Delhi, East Delhi, Shahdara, Central Delhi, North East Delhi, South Delhi, New Delhi, South West Delhi, West Delhi, North West Delhi, and North Delhi.

Air India, IndiGo issue advisories
More than 250 flights have also been delayed.
In light of the weather conditions, airlines such as Air India and IndiGo have issued advisories.
Air India warned that "Adverse weather conditions may impact flight operations to and from Delhi today."
IndiGo said, "Bad weather over Delhi has impacted flight schedules," assuring passengers they are monitoring the situation closely.

SpiceJet, Akasa Air also cautioned passengers
SpiceJet also cautioned that "Due to bad weather in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights might be affected."
Akasa Air said certain flights across its network have been impacted due to severe weather conditions in Delhi. The airline sought passengers' patience and understanding amid these disruptions.
The heavy rainfall has also affected road traffic in the city. Residents reported waterlogging and traffic congestion on social media.
Weather relief
Rainfall improves Delhi's air quality
Many commuters traveling from Delhi to Noida faced long delays as major roads were impacted by the downpour.
The ongoing rainfall has also improved Delhi's air quality. The AQI was recorded at 97 in Ashok Vihar and 100 in Aya Nagar, among other areas.
The continuous showers have brought down temperatures and provided respite from humid conditions.
According to weather forecaster India Met Sky, similar scattered rainfall events are likely over the next two days.
