Groom arrested for murdering friend who threatened to disrupt wedding
Just hours before his wedding in Maharashtra's Beed district, groom Atiq Tamboli was arrested for allegedly murdering his friend Chand (Guddu) Tamboli, 30.
Police say the two argued over an unpaid ₹1.5 lakh loan, and when Chand threatened to disrupt the wedding if he wasn't repaid, Atiq lured him to a secluded spot and killed him.
Investigations still ongoing
Officers described the murder as premeditated, sharing that investigations indicated Chand had lent ₹1.5 lakh to Atiq and was persistently demanding repayment.
Fearing embarrassment at his own wedding, Atiq attacked Chand with a stone on Sunday night.
Chand's body was found the next morning, and police tracked down Atiq later that day using surveillance and local tips.
He was booked on charges of murder, while investigations are still ongoing.
