A woman was allegedly murdered by her fiancé inside their home in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, on Saturday. The incident occurred just an hour before they were to be married. The couple had been living together for one to one-and-a-half years and were engaged, with most wedding rituals completed. However, a dispute over a saree and money led to the fatal altercation.

Argument escalates, leading to tragic outcome
The argument between Sajan Baraiya and Soni Himmat Rathod turned violent, with Baraiya allegedly hitting Rathod with an iron pipe. He also reportedly smashed her head against the wall, killing her on the spot, the police was quoted as saying by NDTV. After the incident, Baraiya vandalized their home before fleeing. Deputy Superintendent of Police RR Singhal confirmed that "the couple were living together despite opposition from their families."

The police were informed about the incident, and a team rushed to the spot. Rathod's body has been sent for post-mortem examination as part of the investigation. A separate complaint has also been lodged in connection with her murder. Sources revealed that Baraiya had also fought with a neighbor on Saturday, leading to another police complaint against him.
