Gujarat government demands compensation from Air India
On June 12, 2025, Air India Flight AI-171 crashed just after taking off from Ahmedabad, killing 241 people on board and at least 29 on the ground.
The plane hit the hostel and canteen of B J Medical College in Meghaninagar, causing major damage.
Now, the Gujarat government is asking Air India for ₹2.7 crore to cover property losses suffered by resident doctors in the tragedy.

Investigation underway; only survivor recovering
Indian authorities are leading the crash investigation, with US agencies like the FAA and NTSB ready to help if needed.
Air India says it's supporting victims' families and working closely with investigators.
In a small bit of hope amid all this loss, a British citizen—so far the only survivor—is recovering from injuries.
