Surat saw over 8.5-inch of rain in just one day, flooding roads and ground-floor homes across the city.
Low-lying neighborhoods like Dabholi, Varachha, Katargam, and Udhna were hit especially hard.
With streets underwater, traffic came to a standstill and schools had to close.

This isn't just about Surat—heavy rain has drenched much of Gujarat, with 159 areas reporting downpours.
The IMD put out orange and yellow alerts for several districts, warning about more storms ahead.
