Gujarat records highest June rainfall in a decade
Gujarat just had its wettest June in a decade, clocking 288.7mm of rainfall by month's end.
The southwest monsoon arrived fast—covering the whole state by June 18 and breaking past records.
South Gujarat really felt it, with a massive 532.55mm of rain.
Rainfall uneven across the state
Rainfall was pretty uneven across the state. East Central and Saurashtra regions saw decent showers, but five districts—including Banaskantha and Patan—got less than 25% of their usual June rain, while Bhavnagar and Botad crossed the halfway mark.
Over the last day alone, rain hit most areas; Kadi taluka in Mehsana topped out at 91mm.
More rain expected this week
The weather department says heavy rain is set to continue in places like Sabarkantha and Valsad this week, with more downpours expected in several other districts soon.
