Gurugram checkpoints stop 500+ high-pollution vehicles at Delhi borders
On Friday, Gurugram and Delhi police set up border checkpoints to keep out older, more polluting vehicles as part of stricter GRAP-4 rules.
At least 500 vehicles—mostly those with outdated emission standards—were stopped from entering Delhi to help cut down on air pollution.
How the crackdown worked
Police used ANPR cameras on major roads like NH-48 and Dwarka Expressway to check vehicle pollution certificates, while teams also did manual inspections around the clock.
Officers made sure traffic kept moving smoothly, even as they turned away BS-III and BS-IV diesel vehicles.
What happened on the ground
At Sirhol Toll Plaza, joint teams from Gurugram, Delhi police, and MCD were busy checking trucks.
Since trucks carrying construction materials couldn't enter Delhi until 11pm a bunch of them ended up waiting near the toll plaza—making Udyog Vihar road extra crowded for a while.
