Heavy rain expected in Bengal during Bijoya Dashami celebrations
India
Heads up if you're in West Bengal—IMD says heavy rain is on the way starting Thursday, right as Bijoya Dashami celebrations kick off.
It's all thanks to a low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal, which will bring strong showers to places like Howrah, South 24 Parganas, and both Purba and Paschim Medinipur.
Rain likely to spread to northern districts by Friday
Kolkata and nearby areas could see 7-11cm of rain, while some regions might get up to 20cm.
By Friday and Saturday, the downpour is likely to spread further north into districts like Birbhum, Murshidabad, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong.
IMD has also advised fishermen to stay off the sea due to rough conditions.
