IIT Kanpur explains why cloud seeding in Delhi didn't work

India

Delhi tried cloud seeding on Tuesday to make it rain and help with pollution, but the plan fizzled out—there just wasn't enough moisture in the clouds, IIT Kanpur said.
Even after firing 14 flares containing a mixture with 20% silver iodide, no rain showed up.
The scientists aren't giving up, though; they're ready to try again on Wednesday.

Cloud seeding is an emergency hack, not a long-term solution

IIT Kanpur's Director, Manindra Agarwal, explained that cloud seeding is more of an emergency hack than a long-term solution—especially when cloud moisture is only 15-20%.
Still, the Delhi government noticed a drop in pollution levels where the trials happened, and even tiny amounts of rain fell in Noida and Greater Noida.
So, while it's not a cure-all, cloud seeding might offer a little relief when things get really bad.
