IMD forecasts widespread rain in India on August 22
Get ready for a wet weekend: India Meteorological Department (IMD) says active monsoon conditions are set to bring widespread rainfall across large parts of India on August 22.
Areas like Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Chandigarh, and East Uttar Pradesh could see heavy showers on Friday, while Uttarakhand might get thunderstorms with lightning.
Eastern Madhya Pradesh is in for very heavy rain, and western Madhya Pradesh could also see isolated heavy rain, while Chhattisgarh is likely to see thunderstorms with lightning.
Monsoon trough, low pressure fuel rains
A low-pressure area over northeast Madhya Pradesh and an active monsoon trough stretching from Amritsar all the way to the Bay of Bengal are fueling these downpours.
The IMD also expects steady rain in eastern and northeastern states like Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and parts of West Bengal.
This rainy spell is likely to stick around for a few days, so if you're tired of the heat, some relief is finally on the way!
