IMD predicts above average rainfall for July 2025
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says we're in for a wetter-than-usual July 2025, with rainfall expected at 106% of the long-term average.
The monsoon arrived early this year—hitting Kerala on May 24 and spreading across India by June 29, which is pretty quick compared to usual.
TL;DR
Central, south peninsular regions likely to see decent rain
Most of India, especially the Central and South Peninsular regions, can expect decent rain. But if you're in the Northeast, East, or Northwest, you might see less rain than normal.
June saw more heavy downpours than last year—leading to landslides and waterlogging in places like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
IMD also warns that some river basins could face flooding risks if heavy rains continue, so it's smart to stay updated if you live nearby.
