India aims for 155 GW of wind power by 2035
India just set some big goals for wind power, aiming to jump from today's more than 56.1 GW all the way to 155 GW by 2035.
Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi announced the plan, calling it a major step toward making India more self-reliant (Atmanirbhar Bharat).
India launches WT-MARUT wind supply platform
Joshi highlighted that building a strong supply chain is crucial, saying, We are confident the wind energy sector will achieve 100 GW of wind installations by 2030 and 155 GW by 2035.
As India enters its next phase of growth, unlocking global opportunities will be critical, and initiatives like WT-MARUT will strengthen supply chain visibility, boost domestic manufacturing and enhance India's competitiveness in global markets.
To help with this, the government launched WT-MARUT, India's first digital platform for managing wind turbine supply chains.
The sector is already on a roll: during FY 2025-26 saw record new capacity, and exports of wind equipment jumped nearly 50% to more than ₹12,000 crore.
