India cuts spam calls 99% as RBI mandates FRI adoption
India has seriously stepped up its digital security game: spam calls have dropped by 99%, which means about 3.5 crore fewer annoying calls every single day.
On top of that, a tool called the Financial Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI) has helped stop nearly ₹6,500 crore worth of financial scams.
The RBI now requires all banks and financial companies to use this system to catch shady transactions before they cause trouble.
Digital intelligence platform reaches 1,600-1,800 stakeholders
This progress comes from a team effort: the Digital Intelligence Platform now has around 1,600-1,800 stakeholders on board, including banks, law enforcement agencies (LEAs), telecom operators, and financial institutions, to share info and fight fraud together.
Thanks to the Sanchar Saathi initiative, around 55-56 lakh mobile numbers have been disconnected.
Plus, with Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) for all 4G and above subscribers, you can now see who's calling, making it way easier to dodge scammers and stay safe online.
