India Meteorological Department forecasts widespread rain, monsoon 15% below normal

Heads up, IMD's latest forecast is calling for widespread showers this week in much of the country.
Monsoon rainfall is running 15% below normal so far, which matters since the southwest monsoon accounts for about 70% of India's annual rainfall and keeps farms going strong.
Central northwest east coastal showers expected
Central India (think Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh) will get steady rain till September 15, with thunderstorms and gusty winds in Vidarbha on September 11-12.
Northwestern spots like Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Uttarakhand are set for scattered showers till September 17.
Eastern states, including Odisha and West Bengal, and parts of the west like Konkan and Goa will stay wet through the week.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana can expect on-and-off showers too.
