India orders 18 BvS10 Sindhu all-terrain vehicles from L&T
The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to build 18 BvS10 Sindhu all-terrain vehicles—tough machines designed to handle everything from snowy mountains to marshy ground.
The contract was finalized recently, and these vehicles will be made in India under transfer of technology from BAE Systems.
What makes these vehicles special?
The BvS10 Sindhu isn't your average troop carrier—it's amphibious and has a modular design, so it can switch roles fast: think troop transport, ambulance, logistics support, or even command center.
For this order, all units will be used as troop carriers with built-in support for deployment and maintenance.
Why does this matter for India?
Over 60% of each vehicle will be made in India, boosting local defense manufacturing as part of the Make in India push.
Plus, it's the first time these vehicles are being deployed in Asia—giving India an edge in tough terrains and strengthening its supply chain security.
