India plans 3 new oil reserves amid rising fuel demand

India is gearing up to build three new strategic oil reserves, aiming to protect itself from global supply shocks as demand keeps rising.
Since the country imports over 80% of its oil, these reserves are meant to act as a safety net in case of international crises or disruptions.

Sites in Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh

The new sites will be at Bikaner (Rajasthan), Mangalore (Karnataka), and Bina (Madhya Pradesh), adding millions of tons to India's emergency stockpile.
The goal is to have enough oil stored for 90 days—matching international standards—and even bring private companies on board, similar to what Japan and South Korea do.
This should help keep fuel supplies steady no matter what's happening around the world.
