India proposes 4-point plan to China for border management
India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met his Chinese counterpart Admiral Dong Jun at the SCO summit in Qingdao and put forward a four-step plan to cool off ongoing border tensions.
The plan focuses on sticking to the 2024 disengagement deal, keeping up efforts to de-escalate, moving forward with talks on where the border actually lies, and using established diplomatic channels to keep things steady between the two countries.
Singh calls out Pakistan-backed cross-border terrorism
Singh didn't just talk borders—he firmly called out Pakistan-backed cross-border terrorism, stressing that India stands strong against such threats.
He also shared hopes for restarting the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra (on hold for six years) and gifted a Madhubani painting as a friendly gesture.
Notably, Singh refused to back an SCO document he felt downplayed India's stance on terrorism.
This meeting follows recent steps by both sides—like new disengagement deals in Depsang and Demchok—to dial down tensions and keep peace talks going.
