India to launch 1st hydrogen train between Jind and Sonipat
India
India is about to launch its very first hydrogen-powered train, running between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana.
After passing all safety trials, the Railway Board has given the green light for daily service on this 89-kilometer route.
It's a big step for greener travel in India: think less pollution and more innovation.
Hydrogen train emits only water vapor
Built by Chennai's Integral Coach Factory, the train can hit speeds up to 75km per hour and finishes the journey in two hours, stopping at 13 stations along the way.
With 10 coaches powered by hydrogen fuel (so only water vapor comes out, not CO2), it's a clean ride all around.
Maintenance will happen at Delhi's Shakurbasti depot, putting India alongside countries like Germany and Japan in adopting eco-friendly trains.
