Indian Army gets its final Apache attack helicopters

India

The Indian Army just received the last three Apache attack helicopters, wrapping up a deal signed in 2020.
These choppers landed at Hindon Air Force base and will soon join the 451 Army Aviation Squadron in Jodhpur after some checks and test flights.

What took so long?

The first batch arrived only in July 2025—about 15 months late—thanks to supply chain hiccups.
The squadron has been waiting since March 2024, so this delivery is a big milestone for them.

Why Apaches matter

These AH-64E v6 Apaches aren't your average helicopters—they're loaded with advanced tech like Longbow radar, Hellfire and Stinger missiles, and can even control drones for smart missions.
With these new arrivals, the Army's set to work alongside the Air Force's existing Apache fleet, plus there's already talk of adding 90 more homegrown LCH Prachand choppers in the coming years.
