Indian Coast Guard nabs Bangladeshi boat for illegal fishing

India

The Indian Coast Guard just caught a Bangladeshi fishing boat inside India's waters, near the maritime border, on Thursday.
The vessel had 28 crew members but no legal permits, which is a clear violation of the Maritime Zones of India (Regulation of Fishing by Foreign Vessels) Act, 1981.

Crackdown continues in Bay of Bengal

After being intercepted, the boat and its crew were handed over to Marine Police at Namkhana Fishing Harbour for legal action.
This is actually the fourth such bust in a week—just days earlier, three more Bangladeshi boats with 79 people were stopped.
The ICG is keeping up round-the-clock patrols to protect Indian fishermen and keep illegal activity out of our waters.
