Indian MLAs' pay varies by state, salaries and allowances explained
Ever wondered how much your state MLA actually makes?
Turns out, their salaries are set by each state, so paychecks can look pretty different across India.
On top of a basic salary, MLAs get allowances for things like travel, housing, and working in their constituencies.
Some states even throw in perks like healthcare and pensions.
Telangana ₹2.75L monthly, Kerala ₹70,000 monthly
Right now, Telangana tops the charts: MLAs there earn ₹2.75 lakh per month after a big hike from earlier years.
Kerala sits at the other end with one of the lowest MLA salaries at ₹70,000 per month (allowances included).
Other states fall somewhere in between; for example, Telangana?
Haryana ₹1cr loans, Odisha ₹5cr fund
It's not just about salary: some states offer extra benefits too.
Haryana lets MLAs take loans up to ₹1 crore for houses or cars and covers medical treatment for MLAs and their families.
In Odisha, each MLA gets access to a special fund of ₹5 crore per constituency to spend on local projects.
