Indian students evacuated amid Israel-Iran hostilities
With the Israel-Iran conflict heating up, India is moving quickly to get its people out of Iran.
Flights aren't an option—airspace is closed—so the government is sending people by road.
Over 600 Indian students have already been shifted from Tehran to Qom, and others are being moved to safer spots in Iran or across the border into Armenia.
Focus on students in Shiraz, Isfahan, Urmia
The focus is on Indian nationals in cities like Shiraz, Isfahan, and Urmia. The embassy in Tehran is keeping tabs and has asked anyone needing help to reach out.
There are nearly 6,000 Indian students among about 10,000 Indians in Iran right now.
Some hiccups encountered in process
There have been some hiccups: a bus for medical students got stuck due to paperwork delays.
Still, 100 Indian students have managed to cross into Armenia safely by road.
The government says they're working hard to make sure everyone gets out safe.
