IndiGo to operate special flights from Jeddah on March 3
IndiGo is stepping up to fly 10 special relief flights from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad on March 3.
The Civil Aviation Ministry reviewed the situation at a meeting chaired by Minister K Rammohan Naidu on Monday, aiming to help Indian passengers stuck due to the Middle East airspace crisis.
Airspace shut since February 28
The region's airspace got shut down after US and Israeli attacks on Iran starting February 28.
That meant mass flight cancelations and left thousands of Indians stranded in Gulf cities.
Airlines have had to scramble—rerouting planes and changing schedules just to keep things moving.
Other airlines operating limited services
Air India Express is also back with flights to Muscat from cities like Delhi and Kochi starting March 3—the first one leaves Muscat at 10:25am local time.
Air India Express has suspended services to Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE until 23:59 hours IST on March 3, while foreign carriers are running only limited services.
