IPS officer who sought ₹3 lakh bribe reinstated after 7yrs

India

G Vijay Krishna Yadav, an IPS officer suspended since 2018 for alleged bribery, has just been reinstated by the Maharashtra government.
The move comes after the central government told the state to follow due process and initiate a departmental inquiry against Yadav.

Yadav was accused of demanding a bribe

Yadav was accused of asking for a ₹3 lakh bribe to go easy on theft charges and release a supplier's truck—his aide was caught red-handed taking ₹1 lakh.
Even after being transferred, Yadav allegedly kept up the demands.
He went off the radar after the incident and was suspended, with calls for his dismissal in 2019.
Now, seven years later in September 2025, he's back at work—but only in a low-profile human rights post—while an official inquiry and ACB investigation are still underway.
