ISIS operative, other high-profile inmates get VIP treatment in jail

India

A recent probe at Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Central Jail found that ISIS operative Zuhab Hameed Shakeel Manna was allegedly enjoying VIP treatment—think smartphones and special privileges—in a high-security block.
These findings have sparked serious concerns about how well the prison is being managed, with the Director General of Prisons now ordering a full investigation into these lapses.

Other inmates also reportedly got similar perks

Turns out, Manna wasn't alone. Viral videos and internal reports showed serial offender Umesh Reddy using two phones, cooking his own meals, and watching TV in his cell.
Tarun Raju—accused in a gold smuggling case tied to actress Ranya Rao—also reportedly got similar perks.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has even slapped over ₹218 crore in penalties on Raju, Rao, and others for their roles in a major smuggling racket busted earlier this year.
