JEE Main 2026 registration to begin soon: Key details
Ready for JEE Main 2026? Registration kicks off in October 2025 for both the January and April sessions.
You'll need to apply online at jeemain.nta.nic.in, so keep your Aadhaar, category certificates, and UDID (if needed) close by to make things smoother.
Know about exam papers
There are three papers: Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech), Paper 2A (B.Arch), and Paper 2B (B.Planning).
Paper 1 is fully online with 75 questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Maths—worth up to 300 marks.
Papers 2A and 2B mix in Aptitude plus Drawing or Planning questions.
Understand marking scheme
It's simple: +4 for every right answer, -1 for wrong ones on MCQs. Unanswered questions don't count against you.
For 2026, negative marking applies to both MCQs and numerical value questions.
Eligibility criteria for students
If you've passed or are appearing in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths, you're good to go—no age limit!
For NITs/IIITs/GFTIs admissions via JEE Main scores: general category needs at least 75% in Class 12 or top-20 percentile; SC/ST candidates need at least 65%.
