In a really sad turn of events, five people—including two women—lost their lives to wild elephant attacks in Jharkhand within just one day.
Most of the incidents happened near the Sirka forest in Ramgarh, with another reported from Angara, Ranchi, and the location of one incident not specified.
One victim was reportedly trying to take selfies with a herd when tragedy struck.
What's happening now
Forest teams and quick response units are on alert as herds of elephants—about 42 in total—are roaming through Ramgarh and Bokaro districts.
Some victims haven't been identified yet. Those injured are getting medical care, though sadly one person died during treatment.
Authorities say they're keeping a close watch to prevent more incidents.
