Jharkhand High Court quashes cancellation of JSSC CGL exam
What's the story
The Jharkhand High Court has quashed the state government's decision to cancel the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC CGL) examination. The court's ruling comes as a relief for candidates who had cleared the test. It also annulled the state's cancellation of the recruitment advertisement linked to this examination.
Exam cancelations
Jharkhand government had canceled 22 recruitment examinations
On August 18, the Jharkhand government had canceled 22 recruitment examinations, including the 11th to 13th JPSC examinations.
This decision was taken after weeks of public protests alleging irregularities in the exams.
The High Court had stayed the state's order canceling appointments of government employees recruited through the 11th to 13th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examinations on August 20 and deferred hearings on petitions challenging them till September 18.
Arrests made
Jharkhand CID arrests 2 people
Separately, the Jharkhand Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested two people for their alleged involvement in irregularities in competitive examinations.
One of them is Sanjeet Kumar, a resident of Ranchi's Ratu Road area, who was linked to the 14th JPSC preliminary examination case.
Kumar allegedly ran Shivangan Coaching Centre and acted as an agent collecting money from candidates, promising them help to clear the examination.
