Karnataka government proposes increasing Bengaluru's wards to 368
India
Big changes could be coming to Bengaluru!
The Karnataka government just proposed increasing the city's wards from 198 to 368, aiming to balance out population differences across neighborhoods.
Under this draft plan, the West division would have the most wards (111), while the East gets just 50.
Concerns over old census data usage
The five existing city corporations will manage these new divisions—North and South get 72 wards each, Central gets 63.
But there are concerns: the plan uses old 2011 census data even though Bengaluru's population has grown a lot since then, leading to uneven ward sizes.
If you've got thoughts on this, you can share feedback until October 15. The final decision is expected by November 1, so there's still time for your voice to count!
