Karnataka proposes crowd control law post-RCB stampede

After a chaotic stampede at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium during the RCB celebrations, Karnataka is rolling out a new crowd management bill.
If passed, it could mean up to three years in jail and a ₹50,000 fine for failing to control crowds at big events.
Law Minister H. K. Patil says this is about making gatherings safer and wants the bill approved soon.

TL;DR

Law will set limits on number of event attendees

The law will set limits on how many people can attend sports matches, weddings, and political rallies—though fairs and religious ceremonies are off the hook.
The government is also thinking about shifting major venues like Chinnaswamy Stadium to boost safety.
All these steps are aimed at preventing future mishaps and keeping large gatherings under control.
