Karnataka's ₹1.5 lakh crore tech reboot announced at Bengaluru summit

India

Karnataka just rolled out a huge ₹1.5 lakh crore plan to upgrade its tech and infrastructure at the 28th Bengaluru Tech Summit.
With over 600 speakers from 60+ countries, the event also saw Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launch new IT, SpaceTech, and Startup policies—all aimed at making Karnataka a global deep-tech hotspot.

What's in the mega plan?

Think big: a twin tunnel road (40km), double-decker metro (41km), Bengaluru Business Corridor (74km), plus a second international airport for south Bengaluru.
There's also talk of an AI city near Bidadi.

What are the goals?

The SpaceTech Policy wants Karnataka to grab half of India's space tech market by 2033—and even take on global players.
The IT Policy aims to create nine million jobs by 2030.
The Startup Policy is backing 25,000 new startups in five years with funding and support.

Why does this matter?

Karnataka already powers nearly half of India's software exports—₹3.2 lakh crore worth!
These bold moves are set to boost jobs, innovation, and keep Karnataka leading India's tech charge.
