Kashmir chills: Cold wave grips the valley, temperatures keep dropping

India

Kashmir is freezing up as a cold wave tightens its grip—Srinagar just saw its coldest night of the season at -3.2°C.
With barely any rain or snow since October, the IMD says dry weather (and even colder nights) are here to stay for now.

Why does it matter?

Subzero temps aren't just numbers—Shopian hit -5.1°C and Pulwama, where the minimum temperature stayed five degrees below the freezing point, while Pahalgam and Gulmarg also dipped well below zero.
Up at Zojila Pass, it's a brutal -16°C.
The ongoing chill could mean frosty mornings, slippery roads, and daily routines getting tougher across the Valley.
