Kerala dance teacher receives 52-Year sentence
A Kerala court has sentenced dance teacher Sunil Kumar, 46, to 52 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a seven-year-old boy between 2017 and 2019.
The abuse happened in a room near the dance hall where he taught.
Kumar was convicted under child protection laws, with his sentences running together for an actual jail term of 20 years.
Strong evidence helped secure the conviction
The abuse came to light when the boy refused more lessons from Kumar, just as his parents were about to enroll his sibling too.
Seventeen witnesses and strong evidence helped secure the conviction. The court also fined Kumar ₹3.25 lakh as compensation for the victim if collected.
Meanwhile, Kumar faces another trial for allegedly raping a 12-year-old boy, so legal proceedings against him are still ongoing.
