Kerala man kills bedridden wife, then tries to take own life

In Kottayam, Kerala, a 74-year-old man named Soman E.R. allegedly killed his 70-year-old bedridden wife, Remani, on Friday.
The couple lived with their two sons, and police said Soman was distressed over the hardship of caring for her.

Man in custody as police investigate

After the incident, Soman tried to take his own life but was stopped just in time by his sons. He also reportedly attacked his younger son before being restrained.
Police are now investigating and have sent Remani's body for a post-mortem.
Soman is in custody as authorities look into what led up to this tragic event.
