Kerala: Prison inmates critically injure guard, 2 others

At Viyyoor High Security Prison in Kerala, two inmates—Azaruddin and Manoj—attacked Assistant Prison Officer Abhinav after he asked them to return to their cells.
Using a sharpened tile and prison keys, they left Abhinav with serious neck, chest, and hand injuries.
Another inmate, Rejikumar, who tried to help was also hurt.
Both victims are being treated at a local hospital.

New charges filed against inmates

Police have filed new charges against Azharuddin and Manoj under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Both remain in custody while formal arrest paperwork and court remand are pending.
Abhinav's condition is serious but stable, according to police officials.
