KITU opposes Karnataka's overtime proposal

Karnataka is looking to change its labor law to allow 10-hour workdays (and up to 12 with overtime), up from the current nine.
This move follows similar changes in states like Gujarat and Maharashtra.
But the state's IT employees' union, KITU, isn't happy and has raised strong objections.

Union urges government to prioritize employee welfare

KITU says longer shifts could mean fewer jobs—since companies might cut from three shifts to two—and could seriously affect young workers' mental health and personal lives.
They point out that "90% of Indian corporate employees under 25 are already suffering from anxiety."
The union also notes that many countries are moving toward shorter workweeks for better well-being, urging the government to put employee welfare first.
