Kolkata Metro carries nearly 10L passengers in a day

Kolkata Metro just hit a new milestone by carrying almost 10 lakh passengers in a single day—9.82 lakh on Saturday, September 27, 2025—beating last year's festive record.
With the city buzzing for Durga Puja, the metro is proving more essential than ever for getting around.

Metro's festive footfall

Between September 26 and 27, about 18.64 lakh people hopped on the metro.
On Maha Panchami, the Blue Line alone handled over 7.4 lakh riders and the Green Line saw more than 2.2 lakh, contributing to the two-day total.
All that footfall means fewer cars on packed roads and much easier pandal-hopping for everyone celebrating in Kolkata!
