Kolkata vice principal learns of college rape through media

South Calcutta Law College only found out about a student's reported gang-rape after it made headlines.
Vice Principal Nayana Chatterjee shared that police didn't inform the college at first, citing "confidentiality."
The incident happened in the guardroom and involved two senior students and an alumnus, but no one from the college had filed a complaint.

Four arrested, including faculty member

The 24-year-old victim said she was attacked by three men after a student meeting, then threatened to keep quiet.
Once she reported it, four people were arrested—including Monojit Mishra, a temporary faculty member with past ties to a student political group.
The college is also looking into whether the security guard on duty could have done more, as the investigation continues.
