Kurukshetra University under fire for collecting Muslim students' details

India

Kurukshetra University is in hot water after asking departments to list out names, roll numbers, class details, hostel and room numbers, contact details and permanent addresses of Muslim students ahead of Prime Minister Modi's visit on November 25, 2025.
The request, made by Chief Security Officer Dr Anand Kumar and framed as a security step, quickly drew attention.

Students and faculty call it discriminatory

Student groups like NSUI and SFI slammed the move as unconstitutional and accused the university of communal profiling.
A faculty member said they'd never seen anything like this before.
Meanwhile, police officials either stayed silent or denied involvement, leaving everyone questioning who actually ordered this controversial step.
