Ladakh administration to address protest demands before September talks

With big talks coming up in September 2026, the Ladakh administration is making moves to address local demands.
Groups like the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) pushed for cases from last year's protests, where four people died and about 90 were hurt, to be dropped.
Ladakh officials to drop 25 cases
On August 20, officials said they'll withdraw cases against 25 people with minor roles in the protests, but nine others will still face legal action.
LAB has now declared September as "Martyrs' Month," calling for justice and compensation for victims.
Meanwhile, both sides are gearing up for new talks that could shape Ladakh's future rights and protections.
