Lalu Prasad granted bail by Siwan court in 2011 case
India
Lalu Prasad, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief, just got bail from a Siwan court for a case dating back to the 2011 Bihar assembly elections.
He was accused of breaking election rules by running a rally past its allowed time.
The judge accepted his lawyer's explanation that health issues kept him from showing up earlier.
Warrants issued and Parmeshwar Singh dead
In this particular case, he missed multiple court dates, which led to warrants being issued.
The other person named in the case, Parmeshwar Singh (the RJD candidate back then), has since died.
