Legal trouble for Raja Raghuvanshi's sister over defamatory remarks
Shrishti Raghuvanshi, cousin of the late Raja Raghuvanshi, is facing police action after she allegedly made hurtful comments about Assam's Kamakhya Temple during a TV interview.
The Guwahati Police booked her and the news anchor under sections of the BNSS, 2023, for "hurting religious sentiments" and "disturbing public peace."
Shrishti, anchor were called for questioning but didn't show up
Both Shrishti and the anchor were called by Guwahati's Crime Branch for questioning but didn't show up. After this, formal charges were filed under multiple sections of the BNSS.
Shrishti's brother shared that their family apologized and provided evidence as asked by police, but said officers grew more suspicious as Shrishti's social media presence increased.
The investigation is still ongoing, with authorities waiting for cooperation from those involved.
