Leh Apex Body gives government 1 month to meet demands
Sonam Wangchuk and Chering Dorjay Lakrook from the Leh Apex Body (LAB) have told the government it has one month to meet key demands from last year's Leh protests.
They're asking for criminal charges against around 80 protesters to be dropped, compensation for families of four people killed in police firing, and help for those badly injured.
Ladakh leaders warn fresh protests
Wangchuk said these issues have weighed heavily on Ladakh's people and warned that fresh protests could happen if nothing changes.
The original movement was about getting statehood and Sixth Schedule protection for Ladakh but faced harsh crackdowns: curfews, internet shutdowns, and more than 70 arrests.
Chering Dorjay Lakrook also called out political parties and media for not paying enough attention to Ladakh's concerns.
